Genre – The genre of the film that i have chosen is horror.

Content – There will be a lot of describing of what is going on in the the scene as the actors will not be speaking in it. The script will also have the writing that the narrator will say and what the actors are doing. Whats going to happen is that their is a boy who is walking back from a party and he ends up walking through a park. Its 3am in the morning and he see’s an old man waking his dog from a far. As he walks closer to the person and the dog he seems to change into an abnormal shape. He thinks nothing of it as he his drunk, but then the man also beings to start growing it appears to be man. Into one. The boy still thinks very little of it as he thinks its just an illusion for being drunk. Then he clocks on and starts running the other way. As soon as he turns his head the 12ft man is already there and screams right in his face.

Target audience – The target audience that i will target be targeting is around 15-25. The reason for this is because its fits in with the short film with kids partying so thats why i’ve chosen this. I will be targeting both age groups of male and female, but for me the main primary audience will be males with age group of 15-25. The secondary audience would be females from 15-25 as they also can relate to this kind of situation. The socio economic group for this would be E. There aren’t many films that are similar to mine, but the two that stand out is drag me to hell and the devil advocate. The reason for this is that they both have that devilish figure in it and someone being punished for their actions.

Style – In the script it i will be having someone doing a voice over in what is going to happen. Tis is because i want it to have that extra eary feel to it. Also not many short films do this so it will bring something new to the table. The narrator will have a deep voice to add to the tension.

The short film is all about a 17 year old boy who is going out to party and ended up falling out without a-lot of the people there including his own mates. He left the party and began to walk home, and he ran into a homeless man who was very friendly and asked if he had any loose change. The boy took it to heart and went mental on him. The homeless man was still very calm and being polite. The boy leaves and ends up seeing a shadow which he thinks was his grandad. He then clocks on it wasn’t and he then gets taken to hell.

The brief is asking for a 4 minute short video.

Treatment

Title – Miko

Narrative – They both are young girls in their 20s, both writers. Sarah is English and Miko is Indian. They met on a trip to Birmingham and fell in love, but had to part away from each other all of a sudden, and they lose contact with each other. Even after 10 years Sarah believes that she will meet miko again one day. Sarah becomes a famous writer and her first book becomes a best seller in all over Europe, the book was about her love story. Thanks to the popularity of her book she could reconnect with Miko after 10 years, she finally had found her but soon Sarah finds out that Miko has moved on and has a 5 years old child. The entire short film ends with both of them meeting each other at the park standing on opposite edges of a bench

Running time – 8 minutes long

Group Members- Hardeep, Irene and Gurpreet

Job roles and justify roles- Director (everyone), Cameraman/woman (everyone), Producer (everyone)

Style – The film is going to be based in 1998 and 2008, so we are thinking of going for a very vintage style, and the colour palette is very brownish to give a very warm feeling to the film.

Purpose- The purpose of the short film is to tell more about the scar that a badly broken relationship leaves on people. About how hard it is for people to move on after finding that person that we believe is the one from us. Other serious things that the short film talks about is LGBT rights, how hard was and how hard is for people of same gender to be in love, in this society were being n love with the opposite is looked as being “normal” but if you are attracted to the same sex all of you suddenly are criticised and insulted. Is not always the case though, time is changing and some people are accepting the fact that we all deserve to love whoever wants.

Screening and distribution- The film could be screened at a film festival, in order to gain a larger audience. Though, as a starting point, we could release the film on Vimeo or YouTube. The film would probably receive a 12A certificate from the BBFC, as the film doesn’t include any swearing or violence, and no sexual activity is involved. If the film were to be released on DVD the film would be classified as a 12, as the film can be paused, meaning it can be viewed in a different context.

Target Audience- This film is definitely  aimed at an older audience between the ages of 16-24. It would be aimed more towards women, since it is about romance and bigger percentage of women tend to love this genre more than men do. As  for the social grade it is definitely for an audience from the DE class, semi-skilled and unskilled manual occupations, students and unemployed people, which are a big percentage of population in the uk, a maximum of 26.05%. There is a film which is really similar to mine, called “Call me by your name” which is about a coming of age movie of a love between a 17yo boy and 24man, the movie was based in Italy in the 1980s. It was a blockbuster but pretty problematic, because of the age gap between a teenage boy and the man.

Legal and Ethical Consideration- Some things that I’ll have to be careful of has to be the background music that I will use for my short film, since the short film could be taken down because of copyright issues. So if I want to use music I’ll have to get permission to use it from the owner. Other issues that could arise is people from Asian countries, in this case Indian, they could get offended that their country’s image is being ruined by showing it in a bad way, like marrying their daughters off and stuff like that.

Resource Required and Justification- Canon 700D, as the camera has an adjustable lens, meaning different lenses could be used to create different looks that we want to achieve for the film.
